About Artist & Art Details

Marcus Oleniuk is a world class photographer, commissioned to document the St Davids Peninsula in Pembrokeshire, over the course of a year.

He spent much of that year (2012 to 2013) living at the newly restored Roch Castle, from which he was able to explore and capture the Pembrokeshire landscape and its’ residents.

The result is ‘Pebidiog’, a coffee table book trilogy which includes Tarddiad (Beginning), Teulu (Belonging), Trigo (Being).

Pebidiog is the ancient name given to one of the westernmost parts of Wales, known today in English as ‘North West Pembrokeshire’.

The prose was written by Professor Mererid Hopwood who is one on Wales’ most popular and highly respected authors, not least because of her exploits at the National Eisteddfod, where she has won all three of the major literary prizes, namely the Chair, the Crown and the Prose Medal.

A former Children’s Poet Laureate of Wales 2005-2006, she is much in demand as a lecturer, creative writing tutor and broadcaster.
